Registration open for benefit bicycle ride

Registration remains open for the third annual Moonlight Loop Evening Bicycle Ride, planned for 9 p.m. Saturday.

The ride was rescheduled from its original date of Aug. 20 because of inclement weather.

The event is a police-led 19-mile bicycle ride around the city, starting and ending at the Bartholomew County Library Plaza, 536 Fifth St. All funds raised will go to support Columbus Animal Care Services’ Adoption Medical Fund. The fund covers costs of spay/neuter surgery, pet care services, veterinarian treatments for animals at CACS, pet food and more.

Registration fees are $30 through Friday. People may register online at columbus.in.gov through Thursday evening and at CACS, 2730 Arnold St., Columbus, Friday. People may register the day of the event for $35.

Riders must:

  • Wear a helmet
  • Have headlight and taillight on their bike
  • Be at least 16 years of age to ride their own bicycle

Riders should also be able to keep a pace of 10 miles per hour or more.
