Student hit by car, not seriously injured

A 15-year-old female Columbus North High School student suffered minor injuries after she was hit by an SUV while trying to cross 25th Street at Home Avenue on her way to school.

Columbus police were called at 7:21 a.m. Wednesday to the accident, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police spokesman. Investigators said the pedestrian was hit by a 2010 Lexus SUV driving by a female 16-year-old student, police said.

It is unknown how fast the SUV was going when the accident happened, Harris said.

The 15-year-old was taken to Columbus Regional Hospital for treatment of bumps and bruises, police said. An investigation is continuing into the accident.
