Eagles edge Panthers

NASHVILLE — Jennings County sent its second varsity team to Brown County, and the Eagles came away with a 40-36 victory.

David Tucker (106), Kenny Eason (113), Bryce Denson (132), Evan Bullock (152) and Baylee Mosier (220) all scored pins for Brown County. Levi Mullins (182) won by major decision; and Job Lawson (120), Ben Rygiel (145) won by decision.

Jennings’ Tennessee Henry (160) and Josh Rayburn (170) won by pin. Michael Pemberton (126), Hunter Salsman (138), Gerardo Baez (195) and Nathaniel McDonald (285) all won by forfeit.

Stars stop Panthers

BEDFORD — Bedford North Lawrence raced to a 36-20 halftime lead and cruised from there to a 68-44 Hoosier Hills Conference win against Jennings County.

Brooklyn Gaines led the Panthers (2-4, 0-2) with 17 points. Sidney Gerkin added nine.

Bluejackets down Eagles

MITCHELL — Brown County was within one point at halftime, but Mitchell pulled away in the second half for a 53-38 victory.

Ryanne Smith led the Eagles (2-4) with 11 points.

Twisters top Lancers

EDINBURGH — Oldenburg Academy jumped out to a 16-3 lead after one quarter and held on for a 50-39 win at Edinburgh.

Haven Link led the Lancers (3-5) with 16 points. Bri Howard added eight.
