Seymour
Mr. Orville H. Schnitker, 86, of Seymour, Indiana, passed away at 1:18 p.m. Monday, November 28, 2016, at Lutheran Community Home in Seymour.
Mr. Schnitker was born October 20, 1930, in Jackson County, Indiana, the son of Albert and Henrietta (Rust) Schnitker.
He married his wife of 50 years, Mary E. Newkirk, on July 29, 1956, in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Borchers. She preceded him on June 27, 2007.
Orville was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Borchers. He served in the U.S. Army from 1951-1953. He farmed his entire life. He was a former director at Jackson-Jennings Co-Op, a board member of the Farm Service Agency, a board member of the Jackson County Soil & Water District and held numerous leadership positions at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Borchers.
He is survived by his children, Donald (Susie) Schnitker, Lora (Mike) Willey and Lois (William “Bill”) Bryden; grandchildren, Emily Schnitker, Luke (Katlynn) Schnitker, Forrest (Jill) Willey, Leif (Melissa) Willey, Levi Willey and Chloe Bryden; two great-granddaughters, Eva Willey and Lyla Schnitker; and his sister, Mildred (Alfred) Fenneberg.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and a granddaughter, Adele “Addie” Bryden.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 1, 2016, at St. Paul Lutheran Chapel, Borchers with the Rev. Steve Wood officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Borchers, with full military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled Veterans 47 and Korean and Vietnam Veterans, all of Seymour.
Friends and family may gather from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church and after 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at St. Paul Lutheran Chapel.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Schneck Medical Center, Lutheran Community Home or charity of choice through Voss & Sons Funeral and Crematory Service, Seymour, Indiana.
