Woman survives suspected overdose

Bartholomew County Sheriff’s deputies used naloxone to revive a 19-year-old semi-conscious female who later told investigators she had injected heroin.

Deputies Andrew Whipker and Andrew Densford were sent to 3400 W. County Road 100N at about 9:41 p.m. Monday about a possible overdose.

When they entered the house, they heard a male yelling from the back of the home, deputies said. When deputies entered a bedroom, they found the female, deputies said. The man in the home had found the female unconscious and started CPR until she responded, deputies said.

Naloxone was administered by Columbus Township Fire personnel and the woman told Whipker she had injected heroin. A clear plastic container with a small white rock and trace amounts of white powder were on the bed near the female, deputies said.

The woman was taken to Columbus Regional Hospital, deputies said.
