Juveniles suffer burns, other injuries in crash

Two female juveniles were injured after their car went into a ditch and caught on fire.

Bartholomew County Sheriff’s deputies said the accident happened at about 6:29 p.m. Sunday on County Road 1000N, near North Base Road.

The two juveniles had left the vehicle on their own before deputies arrived.

Both juveniles suffered burns as well as possible fractures to their lower extremities, deputies said.

Three people passed by the accident and helped move the two juveniles away from the burning vehicle, deputies said.

The driver, who is not being identified by the sheriff’s department at this time, was taken to Eskenazi Hospital in Indianapolis, while the unidentified passenger was taken to Columbus Regional Hospital.

Lt. Todd Noblitt and deputies Jon Lanning, Jessica Pendleton and Dane Duke were assisted by German Township firefighters and the Indiana State Police.
