Virgie Poland, 93, of Columbus, passed into the presence of the Lord at 11:46 p.m. Friday, December 23, 2016, surrounded by her family, at Kindred Transitional Care Center.

Virgie was born in Oscaloosa, Kentucky, March 15, 1923, the daughter of John D. and Ida Hampton Frazier. She married Homer Donald Poland. He preceded her in death.

She was a former employee of C.P. Electronics, Sears and Arvin Industries. She attended White Creek United Methodist Church, was a member of the Kentucky Club and was happiest when surrounded by her family.

Funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at Hathaway-Myers Chapel on Pearl Street with the Rev. Ron Hampton officiating. Calling will be from 11 a.m. to service time. Burial will be at Bethel Baptist Cemetery.

Virgie is survived by a son, James L. (Betty) Frazier of Louisville, Kentucky; a sister, Glenda (Cornelius “Connie”) Eggers of Columbus; brothers, Kirby (Myrtle) Frazier, Verlon (Karen) Frazier and Lenville Frazier, all of Columbus; sisters–in-law, Jewell and Eileen Frazier of Columbus and Patty Frazier of Seymour; brother-in-law, Wallace Lackey of Columbus; grandchildren, Jamie Marie Sullivan and Kelly Frazier; and great-grandchildren, Shannon and Brendon Sullivan.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a stepson, Michael Poland; brothers, Kinnon, Vincent, Carlus and Hargus Frazier; and sisters, Emaline Lackey, Stacy Blair and Vaddis Frazier.
