Centra program brightens Christmas for local children

Centra Foundation’s Holiday Giving Program provided winter clothes and toys to 67 children in need from Jennings County.

The children and their families visited the Good Samaritan Food Pantry on Dec. 22 to collect their gifts and meet Santa.

The Holiday Giving Program was hosted by Centra Credit Union’s North Vernon branch. Centra members and friends donated more than $4,200 to make sure all children registered by the Good Samaritan Food Pantry would have gifts to open at Christmas.

“Parents we work with are struggling to cover the basic needs of their family and don’t have money for Christmas presents. Sixty-seven children will now have gifts of winter clothes and toys,” said Ginger Miller, executive director and founder of the Good Samaritan Food Pantry.

Centra Foundation is the charitable arm of Centra Credit Union and was formed to extend the Credit Union’s mission of people helping people.
