Hauser offers ways to help Gatlinburg fire relief

Hauser High School fans have two more opportunities to donate relief items to the athletics department for delivery and distribution to residents of Gatlinburg, Tennessee, who were affected by the fires in late November, when 14 lives were lost.

Items can be brought to the Hauser gym tonight for the 7:30 p.m. boys basketball varsity game against North Decatur and Saturday night at the same time for a home game against Columbus Christian.

Most-needed items are non-perishable food items that don’t have to be cooked — such as Pop-Tarts, nutrition bars and crackers — and household items such as detergent, paper towels and toilet paper. There is no longer a need for clothing, toys, dog food or water.

A large trailer will be loaded and depart for Gatlinburg on Sunday.
