City police hire new officer

Casey Kendrick, a 31-year old native of Versailles, Kentucky, became Columbus Police Department’s newest officer when he was sworn in by Mayor Jim Lienhoop during the Columbus Board of Public Works and Safety Meeting on Tuesday.

Kendrick is a graduate of Woodford County High School in Versailles. After high school, he joined the U.S. Navy and served for four years. While in the Navy, Kendrick earned a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice from Eastern Kentucky University.

Kendrick is scheduled to attend the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in March and currently serves as a reserve in U.S. Navy.

Kendrick was joined at Tuesday’s swearing-in ceremony by his wife, Nicole.
