Mary Jane “Janie” Milan, 80, of Columbus, passed from this life at 11:10 a.m. Wednesday, January 18, 2017, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.

Janie retired from Reliance Electric after 33 years of service. She was a member of the American Legion and VFW Auxiliary.

The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Pastor Tom Collett officiating. Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to time of service Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Bartholomew County Humane Society.

Janie was born in Wheeling, West Virginia, March 31, 1936, to Jesse and Bernetta Ebbert Evans.

Survivors include her daughters, Sherry Lane of Nashville, Athena “Tee Tee” (Danny) Purtlebaugh of Columbus, Bobbie (Billy) Mullins of Columbus and Lisa Milan of Columbus; grandchildren, Shawn (Morgan) VanArsdale, Gary (Crystal) Lane, Richie (Denisa) Black, Susan (Kenny) Barnett, Nick Purtlebaugh and Nathan Mullins; 14 grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John R. Milan; one brother; and two sisters.
