Theater performing ‘Little Shop of Horrors’

Jackson County Community Theatre will present the musical comedy “Little Shop of Horrors” five times in February in the Evergreen Room at The Pines, 4289 U.S. 31, Seymour.

Dinner theater performances are 6 p.m. Feb. 17, 18, 24 and 25. A non-dinner matinee is 2:30 p.m. Feb. 19.

“Little Shop of Horrors” is based on a low-budget 1960 horror film of the same name. However, the stage version, written by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman, features a love story and music of early rock-and-roll, doo-wop, and Motown. Some of the well-known tunes are “Skid Row,” “Somewhere That’s Green,” and “Suddenly, Seymour.” The musical premiered in 1982 Off-Off-Broadway, and eventually moved to Off-Broadway, and finally to Broadway. It was also made into a film in 1986.

All seats are reserved for the dinner shows. Tickets are $30 if paid by check or cash, $31 if a credit card is used. Tickets may be ordered by calling the theater at 812-358-5228, sending an email to [email protected] or online at jcct.org.

No reservations are required for the non-dinner performance, and tickets are general admission and available only at the Evergreen Room door the day of the performance. Tickets are $14 for adults and $12 for seniors and students. An additional $1 charge will be added purchases made by credit card.
