Around Town – January 27

Orchids to …

• people who realize no matter how many times you repeat a lie, it’s still a lie.

• the editorial department at The Republic for their kindness to people.

• Kevin Louden of Overhead Door for fixing my springs so quickly and efficiently on Monday, from Sandy.

• those who voted for President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence to make changes after the past eight years.

Onions to …

• those who named the national march as “the Women’s March” because the disrespectful comments made by some speakers do not reflect my views as a woman or those of any woman that I personally know.

• the City of Columbus for not celebrating National Transit Week.

• local officials who spend more time traveling the country than they do focusing on needs of Columbus.

• those for the stalled improvement project on County Road 450S.

• businesses that can’t maintain their own buildings.

• the community for not fixing the leaky roof at our church.

• the church that charges people who attend Sunday night service.

• the local business that took the 10 percent discount away from all employees instead of terminating those who abused it.

• the church that is soliciting the community to pay for building repairs.

• those against the legalization of medical marijuana.

• Republicans who want top officials given huge raises even though serving should be a privilege and honor.

• women who don’t want to be sexualized yet wear descriptive hats on their heads.

• people who think the president and vice president read The Republic’s Onions.

• those who are demonstrating against the president.

• local service programs that offer to help cover the cost of a winter heating bill but don’t approve or deny the request in a timely manner.

• those who don’t realize that a wall can be dug under and that better technology exists for securing the border with Mexico.
