Ceramic artist demonstration set Monday

Ceramic artist Ellen Kleckner will present a demonstration of her work at a free lunch gathering from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday at The Commons, 300 Washington St.

Columbus Museum of Art & Design has organized the free event.

Kleckner’s solo exhibition, “In Union,” is currently being shown on the second floor of The Commons in the display cases. Soup, bread and charcuterie will be provided to attendees at no cost on a first-come, first-served basis.

Kleckner serves as the executive director of The Ceramic Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

“Ellen uses traditional methods to create work that is quite unexpected,” said Brooke Hawkins, Columbus Museum of Art & Design board president. “Her work feels warm and familiar, and at the same time exciting and innovative.”

A clay demonstration will be from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. A gallery talk is scheduled after that until 1 p.m. A second clay demonstration will be conducted from 1 to 2 p.m.
