Make a splash at 3rd annual Polar Plunge

The Polar Plunge to benefit Special Olympics Indiana will return to downtown Columbus for the third time.

Saturday’s 11 a.m. event, which will be staged outside The Commons, features individuals jumping into a four-foot-deep outdoor pool. The event raises money for Special Olympics Indiana, which supports residents with intellectual disabilities.

To participate, adults must raise at least $75 in pledges. High school and college students who show identification must raise a minimum of $50 to participate. Participants must be at least 12 on the day of the event, with parental permission required for people younger than 18. Registration will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m.

Spectators and guests can attend the “Splash Bash” for a $5 fee.

The event also will include an indoor “After Splash Bash” at The Commons, where prizes will be awarded with food and beverages also being provided.
