Dorothy Mariner

Indianapolis

Dorothy Mae Mariner, 82, of Indianapolis, was born, Dorothy Mae Henricks, on Sept. 21, 1934, to Eldo and Cora Henricks (both deceased).

Dottie went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017, after a year-and-a-half battle with cancer.

Dottie was married to Clifford Junior Query, who passed on Feb. 18, 1968.

Her children are: Charles Clifford Query, Michael L. Query, Tashona A. Cranfill, Debbie (Craig) Parsons, Chuck Mariner (deceased), Barbara (Mike) Cravens, Patty Sparks and Mike (Kyle) Mariner. Her sister is Frances Schmidt, and Dottie had 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Dottie retired in the year 2000 from PNC Bank. She then helped her daughter open a new business (P.A.S.S. – Packaging And Shipping Specialists) and worked there for five years.

Dottie was one of the biggest sports fans you would ever know, just like her father, Pap. She loved just about any sport but her favorite was NASCAR and Indy Car Racing. She would adjust her sleep schedule in order to watch a game, match or F1 Race in the middle of the night. She was an avid reader and loved to go to the casino and play video poker. She also taught herself how to play Words With Friends on her phone and would play up to 13 games at a time. She enjoyed playing many types of card games, but thoroughly enjoyed playing Euchre and Southern Rum with all of her children and many friends.

Dottie was also an awesome cook and baker. She enjoyed cooking for family and friends anytime she could.

The viewing will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24, 2017, at Glenn E. George and Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, Shelbyville, Indiana 46176. Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017, with the graveside service to follow at Lewis Creek Cemetery.
