Compost, chipper program begins March 13

Columbus Department of Public Works, preparing for warmer weather, is beginning its compost/chipper program on March 13.

Compost toters and brush will be collected the same day as residents’ trash collection and need to be at the curb by 7 a.m. Grass, leaves, flowers and garden debris may be placed in compost toters. One armful of brush may go in the trash toter.

Nothing wood-related should go into the compost toter. For large piles of brush, call 812-376-2508 for pickup. Toter brand compost containers may be purchased at Lowe’s.

The Spring Sweep will be March 13-24. Residents are asked to rake loose leaves, grass and pine needles to the curb for collection on trash day.
