North students report classmate who brought pellet gun to school

A male freshman was removed from Columbus North High School after being accused of bringing an Airsoft pellet handgun to school this morning.

The teen had taken a Snap Chat photo of the pellet gun which he posted, resulting in multiple students reporting the photo to teachers and staff, said Larry Perkinson, Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. employee and student assistance coordinator.

The incident happened just as school started this morning and the freshman was in the office by 8:30 a.m. and a school resource officer and staff confiscated the pellet gun, which had the red tip designating it as an Airsoft brand pellet gun.

The student was removed from the building and is suspended from school pending further action, Perkinson said.
