Irma F. Schroer, 95, of Columbus, passed from this life at 11:20 a.m. Monday, February 27, 2017, at Silver Oaks Health Campus.

Irma was baptized April 10, 1921, and was confirmed April 14, 1935, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.

She graduated from Columbus High School in 1939.

Irma and her late husband, Edward, were charter members of Faith Lutheran Church, where she was active in the Altar Guild making banners for the church and bibs for nursing homes, Alpha Circle making quilts for the needy, Women of Faith helping with luncheons and rummage sales and enjoying Bible study.

When her great-grandsons were young, she enjoyed taking them to preschool and kindergarten.

She enjoyed being a seamstress, doing alterations for people and crocheting.

She was active in the North Wayne Home Demonstration Club and Arts and Crafts Club.

The funeral will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Faith Lutheran Church with the Rev. Todd Riordan officiating. Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street and 9:30 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the church. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Faith Lutheran Church.

Irma was born March 28, 1921, in Columbus, to Carl and Mathilda Bense Hoeltke.

She married Edward C.H. Schroer on Oct. 11, 1941. He preceded her in death Dec. 24, 1980.

She will long be remembered and greatly missed by her daughters, Betty Craig-Lyster of Brazoria, Texas and Janet (John) Crouch of Columbus; grandchildren, Judy E. (Larry) Clipp of Columbus and Timothy E. (Jill) Craig of Houston, Texas; great-grandchildren, Jim A. Clipp and Jon E. Clipp, both of Columbus and Courtney K. Craig and Shelby L. Craig, both Houston; sister-in-law, Lorena Hoeltke of Columbus; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; her twin sister, Erna C. Peters; a brother, Wilbur C. Hoeltke; a grandson, Jim L. Crouch; and sons-in-law, Jack G. Craig and William E. Lyster.
