Like following the weather? Learn to be a storm spotter

The National Weather Service is providing free storm-spotter training to the public.

The training session will begin at 6:30 p.m. March 28 in the Columbus Learning Center Auditorium, 4555 Central Ave. The program is free, open to the public and no preregistration is required.

Participants will receive information about severe thunderstorm development and identification of important features, safety tips and more.

The National Weather Service relies on trained volunteers to supplement radar information during a severe storm or tornado event.
