United Way honors Centra vice president

Bill Mahoney, Centra Credit Union’s vice president of indirect lending, was named Advocate of The Year by the United Way of Bartholomew County.

Mahoney, in his second year as champion for the Centra United Way Campaign, raised team member participation by 83 percent and overall Centra giving by 94 percent in 2016.

Taking on the role of champion for the Centra United Way Campaign is just one of the many ways Mahoney gives back to the community through the United Way. He volunteers regularly with other organizations supported by the United Way, including volunteering as a Sans Souci board member for the past eight years.

“Bill always volunteers. His passion for the United Way is incredible. He gives so much to Bartholomew County and he truly exemplifies what it means to Live United,” said Whitney Loyd, resource development director for United Way of Bartholomew County.

Mahoney said he’s the one who benefits most from his efforts.

“The United Way Advocate of The Year Award is a very humbling award. I truly believe it is my privilege to participate. I always leave with a smile on my face and a pep in my step,” he said.
