Vivian Marcella Nichter, 89, of Columbus, died at 1:20 a.m. Friday, March 24, 2017, at Silver Oaks Health Campus.

Vivian took pride working in her flower garden and cooking. She enjoyed entertaining friends, especially family, as she truly loved them. Mrs. Nichter was born in Brownstown, Indiana, March 16, 1928, to the late John and Christena Jackson King. On October 18, 1947, she married Meredith “Nick” Nichter, whom passed away September 30, 2016.

Survivors include her children, Jeanna Coles of Columbus, Elise (Ron) Foster of Brownsburg and Greg (Karen) Nichter of Columbus; grandchildren, Jennifer (Tim) Nash of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Jared (Shirley) Foster of Greenwood, Ethan Nichter and Emily (Dylan Abney) Nichter, both of Columbus; four great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert (Pauline) King of Dayton, Ohio and Omer (Barbara) King of Apex, North Carolina; sister-in-law, Lola King-Isley of Columbus; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by brothers, John King Jr., Elmer (Betty) King and Melvin King; sister, Thelma (George) Redmon; and son-in-law, Vince Coles.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 28, 2017, at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Pastor John Sichting officiating. Calling will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday, March 27, 2017, and from 10 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
