Jamie R. Ross, 44, of North Vernon, passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2017, at St. Vincent Jennings Hospital.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 1, 2017, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service. The Rev. Jerry Byrd and the Rev. Gary Haines will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with a rosary service at 3:30 p.m. Burial will be in Butlerville Cemetery.

Born June 28, 1972, in Columbus, Jamie was the son of Ronald Ross and Lillian Shepherd. He graduated from Jennings County High School in 1990, and married Kerry Zamora on Sept. 5, 1992. She survives.

Jamie was employed by Webster West, where he worked in shipping and receiving. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, and he enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, woodworking and outdoor activities.

In addition to his wife, Kerry, survivors include his mother and step-father, Lillian and Kim Shepherd of Butlerville; his father and step-mother, Ronald and Kathy Ross of Westport; two sons, Tyler and John Paul Ross, both of North Vernon; a sister, Megan Ross of Columbus; four brothers, John Ross of North Vernon, Ryan (Larissa) Ross of Greenwood, Jim Ross of Westport and Robin (Katie) Ross of Camby; and 17 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, John and Jessie Prewitt, Gordan and Alberta Ross, Forrest and Rita Shepherd and Howard and Kay Compton; aunt, Diane Boyd; niece, Bridget Brinkmeier; and nephew, Jessie Ross.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the American Heart Association, Juvenile Diabetes Association or to the family for an education fund for Jamie’s children.
