Mary Charlotte Tenney, 95, of Columbus, died at 9:43 a.m. Friday, March 31, 2017, at Four Season Retirement Community.

Born in Edinburgh, Indiana, April 28, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Leroy and Hattie (Russell) Kyle. She married Lewis M. Tenney June 20, 1947, at Old Union United Church of Christ, and he preceded her in death in 2014.

Survivors include her daughter, Charlyn E. Tenney of Columbus, Indiana; grandchildren, Meagan (Tyler) Costantini of Pittsburg, Kansas and Brett Matthews of Charleston, South Carolina; a step-great-granddaughter, Gianna Costantini of Pittsburg, Kansas; two sisters, Reba Manion of Elizabethtown, Kentucky and Carol (Owen) Wilson of Westport, Indiana; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis M. Tenney; brothers, Forrest Kyle, Allen D. Kyle and Maurice Kyle; sisters, Ruth Whitehorn, Dorthy Ritchison, Nell Boswell and Margaret Steep; and parents, Hattie (Russell) Kyle and Leroy Kyle.

Mary was an extremely devoted wife, mother, grandmother and most of all, follower of Jesus. She loved singing and playing hymns on the piano. She did devotionals every day and loved reading the Bible. She made the best chicken and noodles, according to her grandchildren. She was employed by Kokomo Center School Corporation and was a member of East Columbus Christian Church.

Funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Myers-Reed Chapel, 3729 25th St., Columbus, with the Reverend David Boswell (her nephew) officiating. Burial will follow in Garland Brook Cemetery. Calling will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to the service Thursday.
