Sam W. Ogilvie, 80, of Columbus, died at 7:13 p.m. Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at his home.

Before retirement, Sam worked at Cummins for 42 years. He was a member of Columbus Baptist Church.

Sam enjoyed doing yard work and enjoyed his dogs.

Born on June 23, 1936, in Bartholomew County, Sam was the son of James F. and Lelah C. Galbraith Ogilvie. He married Christine Thorpe on Feb. 13, 1955, and she survives.

Other survivors include children, Sam E. Ogilvie of Columbus and Nadine L. (Mark) Rockwell of Athens, Alabama; grandchildren, Jason Ogilvie of Columbus, Nicholas (Tiffany) Rockwell, Andrew (Devan) Rockwell, both of Alabama and Jordan (Lindsay) Rockwell of South Carolina; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and several siblings.

The funeral will be at noon on Saturday at Norman Funeral Home with Pastor Charles Kennedy officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
