Police: Woman stole car

A report of a suspicious vehicle led Columbus police to recover a stolen car.

Columbus police were sent to the 2300 block of Gilmore Street about the suspicious vehicle at 9:45 p.m. Sunday, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police spokesman.

Officers confirmed the vehicle, a 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix, had been reported stolen earlier Sunday.

A witness told police two women had left the stolen vehicle and walked to a house nearby, Harris said.

Officers located the women and arrested Natasha N. Carr, 28, Elizabethtown, on charges of auto theft and possession of stolen property, Harris said.

While standing next to the stolen vehicle, officers saw what appeared to be a baseball bat that had been reported stolen earlier in the day. After searching the rest of the vehicle, officers located a sports bag containing stolen softball equipment as well as a bag of clothing that was confirmed to be stolen, Harris said.

Officers said in total, the trunk contained 13 bags of suspected stolen property.

Carr is being held in the Bartholomew County Jail on a 48-hour hold with no bond.
