Jerald W. Baker, 74, of Columbus, passed away at 11:23 a.m. on Wednesday, April 12, surrounded by his family at IU Health in Indianapolis. Jerald was born July 30, 1942, in Burney, the son of Leslie C. and Donna M. Carter Baker. He was a 1960 graduate of Burney High School and was married to Mary C. Redelman on May 20, 1961, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greensburg.

He served as a Hartsville Town Marshall from 1973 to 1977 and also served on the Hartsville Volunteer Fire department from 1971 to 1979. He worked at the Columbus Farm Bureau Co-op, Valeo of Greensburg and The Republic.

He is survived by his wife, Mary C. Baker; a brother, Jimmy L Baker, and a sister, Lois Ann Deeho; his children, Timothy W. (Kathy) Baker, Michael J. (Kathryn) Baker and Kelli A. (Ron) Moffatt; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Leslie C. and Donna M. Baker.

A private graveside service by Pastor Paul Castle will be held today with the family at Hawcreek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions for Jerald may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
