Robert “Bob” Darrell Pope, 68, of Columbus, entered into eternal life at 8:49 p.m. Thursday, April 13, 2017, due to respiratory complications at Columbus Regional Hospital.

Bob loved old country music, camping and watching NASCAR. He was employed by Ventra/Vernco for 17 years.

Mr. Pope was born in Greensburg, Indiana, December 27, 1948, to the late Irvin E. and Lola M. Rudicel Pope.

In 1968, he married Billie Johnson.

Survivors include his children, Robert D. Pope, Donna (Nathan Stevenson) Pope, both of Columbus, and Diana (Gilbert) Prosser of Culleoka, Tennessee; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Darlene McDaniels of North Vernon; brothers, Donald (Carol) Pope, David (Maureen) Pope, Dale Pope and Paul (Betty) Hamilton, all of Columbus; former wife, Billie Johnson; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Mataly R. Nelson.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Brother Hunter Senn officiating. Calling will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
