Columbus

William J. “Bill” Fox, 75, passed away on April 18, 2017, after an eight-year battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. A longtime resident of Columbus, he graduated from Columbus High School in 1960 and graduated from Tulane University, with a master’s degree in architecture, in 1968. He later started his own architectural firm, William J. Fox Architect Inc., designing and consulting on many prominent commercial and residential buildings throughout Indiana during his career.

In the late 1970s, he was an early supporter of Columbus Express Soccer Club and the Columbus Parks and Recreation youth soccer program. He also served as a member of the Harrison Lake board, serving as president and as an active committee member. He was a supporter and past member of Columbus North Booster Club. He was an avid tennis player and enjoyed fishing and boating with his grandkids. He was a member of St. Bartholomew Parish and a former member of St. Agnes Parish.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Barbara (Scudder) Fox; and their four sons, Greg (Wendy) Fox, Bart (Christie) Fox, Matt (Natalie) Fox and Pierre (Terra) Fox. He had 11 grandchildren: Lauren and Kate Fox (Greg), Michael, John and Elizabeth Fox (Bart), Simon, Harrison and Addison Fox (Matt) and Nicholas, Ben and Will Fox (Pierre).

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Margarethe (Hilger) Fox; and a grandson, Joseph T. Fox (Bart).

Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 21, at Myers-Reed Chapel, 3729 E. 25th St., Columbus. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 22, at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Columbus.
