Driver arrested in stolen-vehicle case

Bartholomew County Sheriff’s deputies have recovered a stolen vehicle and arrested the driver.

Deputy Dane Duke, assisted by Indiana State Police, saw a vehicle at the Red Roof Inn parking lot Saturday in Taylorsville, deputies said. The vehicle had been reported stolen in Columbus on April 14.

When speaking to the occupants — driver Robert Scott, 34, of Morgantown and Brandy Moore, 33, of Bargersville — officers found a syringe and other narcotics paraphernalia, deputies said.

Scott was arrested on charges of auto theft, legend drug-injection devices and possession of paraphernalia, deputies said. He also was issued a traffic summons for driving while suspended with a prior conviction.

Moore, the passenger, was issued a criminal summons for possession of paraphernalia, deputies said.

The vehicle was returned to the registered owner.

Scott was released from the Bartholomew County Jail after posting $17,500 bond, jail officials said.
