Frances M. Johnson, 88, of Columbus, passed from this life at 9:40 a.m. Saturday, April 22, 2017, at Four Seasons Health Care Center.
Mrs. Johnson was born Nov. 14, 1928, in Johnson County, Indiana, the daughter of Amos and Hazel Roberts Bensheimer. She married Marvin D. Johnson in October 1947. He preceded her in death Dec. 4, 1996.
Mrs. Johnson graduated from Union Township High School in Johnson County. Earlier in life, Mrs. Johnson worked in accounting at Como Plastics and in 1971, she co-founded with her husband,
Marvin, Marvin Johnson & Associates where she was the agency manager until her retirement in 1983.
Mrs. Johnson was a member of First Christian Church and also enjoyed membership at the Columbus Moose Lodge, Columbus Elks Club, the National Square Dancing Association and the Indiana Motor Truck Association.
She enjoyed square dancing, golfing, painting and working puzzles. She was also an avid traveler.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by her sons, Steve (Linn) Johnson, Michael (Sher) Johnson and Roger (Barb) Johnson, all of Columbus; a sister, Ann Gray of Toledo, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Bruce Johnson; and six siblings.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Jonathan Moore Pike with Brenda DeCoursey officiating. Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from noon until service time Thursday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
