Tommy Joe Hounshell, 63, of Columbus, passed away on May 2, 2017, at his residence. He was born on May 31, 1953, in Viper, Kentucky. He was the son of Arlie and Ila (Campbell) Hounshell.

He married Karen (Norton) Hounshell on Aug. 29, 1975.

He is survived by his wife; sons, Jason (Jessica) Hounshell of Columbus, Jerry (Mia) Hounshell of Columbus and Andy Joe (Tiffany) Hounshell of Franklin; and daughter, Amanda (Charles) Allen of Columbus; 16 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Ronnie Hounshell and Fat Jack Hounshell; and a sister, Sandra Fields.

He served in the U.S. Air Force from Nov. 1971 until Nov. 1975.

He enjoyed fishing, camping, softball, football, eating cookies and watching the Military and History channels on TV.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 6, 2017, by the Rev. Glenn Poynter at Who-So-Ever-Will Community Church in Edinburgh. Calling will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Friday and from 11 a.m. until time of service on Saturday. Burial will be at a later date at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.
