Deputies find suspect hiding in attic

Bartholomew County Sheriff’s deputies attempting to serve a warrant found the suspect hiding in an attic.

Deputy Leah Burton was at an Edinburgh-area home at 11:17 p.m. Wednesday attempting to serve a warrant on David Hadley, 34, 10180 S. County Road 200W, deputies said.

A woman at the home, Amber Halstead, told Burton that Hadley was not there.

Assisted by deputies Brent Worman and Jarod Aspenson, they searched the home and found a trap door near the attic.

Aspenson went into the attic and found Hadley under the insulation, deputies said. Hadley was arrested on Johnson County warrants and on a charge of violation of a protective order, deputies said.

He remains in the Bartholomew County Jail being held without bond, jail officials said.

Halstead, was arrested on charges of false reporting and obstruction of justice and has been released from jail, jail officials said.
