Marion Nordahl Huseby, 83, of Columbus, passed from this life following a long illness the evening of Monday, May 15, 2017, surrounded by family at home. He was born July 14, 1933, in Havelock, Iowa, to Nord and Rena (Kruse) Huseby, and married Elizabeth Louise Haeseler June 9, 1956, in Ames, Iowa.

Marion graduated from Havelock High School, Iowa, at age 16 and went on to attend the Hamilton School of Commerce. Marion enlisted in the Army and was sent to Korea in the 24th Infantry Division, Artillery. He attended Iowa State College in Ames, Iowa, graduating with a bachelor of science degree in industrial administration in1958. Marion was employed at Trane Air Conditioning in La Crosse, Wisconsin, for two years and at Cummins Engine Co. for 24 years.

He left Cummins to become director of business services at Ivy Tech Community College in Columbus. Marion and Louise were active Asbury United Methodist Church members, where Marion sang bass in the choir for 42 years. He was also involved with the Exchange Club, Boy Scouts, Bible Study Fellowship, Campus Life founding committee, Gideons and Asbury’s “Wilderness Wanderers” hiking group.

He loved his family and his family loved him. His faith and being a child of God were of utmost importance to him.

He enjoyed hiking, walking, raising tomatoes, handyman work and helping others.

He is survived by his wife, Louise Huseby of Columbus; their five children, Christe (Kevin) Carnes of Plainfield, Lori (Jim) Tenbarge of Fishers, Eric (Margaret) Huseby of Bloomington, Jodi (Jeff) Cox of Bainbridge and Matt (Jussara) Huseby of Crystal Lake, Illinois; his sister, Betty Stein of Gilmore City, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a great-grandson, Jackson Pedigo.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service for Marion at noon Saturday, May 20, 2017, at Asbury United Methodist Church. Visitation hours are from 10 a.m. until noon Saturday. A private burial service is planned at Maple Hill Cemetery in Plainfield. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Asbury Mission Columbus, the Gideons or Bible Study Fellowship.
