Local emergency agencies honored

Bartholomew County’s Emergency Operations Center and Columbus Regional Emergency Medical Service each received a 2017 Public Safety Communicator Heroes Award from Indiana University Health LifeLine.

The award is presented for dedication to safety and communication excellence when dealing with very stressful on-scene flight calls, LifeLine officials said.

The award honors professional and efficient communication between the ground and LifeLine helicopter flight crews who are flying in and out of emergency scenes.

Emergency Operations Center Deputy Director Julie Pierce and Supervisor Wendy Horne accepted the award May 15 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
