Brian’s picks – May 25

  1. Southern gospel music boasts a rather heavenly following around south-central Indiana — and the Second Annual Indiana Gospel Music Fanfest June 8-10 aims to capitalize on that. Four national headliners and a host of Hoosier acts are scheduled for the event at Westside Community Church, 124 Tipton Lakes Blvd. in Columbus. Tickets are $5 per session, available at the church, the Ark Book & Gift bookstore locally, and ingma.com.
  2. As a youngster, I liked few things better than going for plane rides in my dad’s small, single-engine aircraft in the airfield literally next door to our house in Kentucky. Local young people ages 8 to 17 can share the same experience via Young Eagles Flights through the Columbus Area Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 729. The next trips will be offered from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., weather permitting, June 10 on Aviation Day at the Columbus Municipal Airport, 4770 Ray Boll Blvd. To register, call 812-376-2519 weekdays. Parental approval required. Sponsored by Columbus Area EAA Chapter 729. Information: 729.eaachapter.org or youngeagles.org.
