William “Bill” Stith Noe, 81, lost his life to Alzheimer’s disease on June 9, 2017, at his home in Columbus, Indiana. Bill was born March 1, 1936, in Gravel Switch, Kentucky. He was the son of James B. and Virginia Lane Noe. He was married to Betty Hicks on Oct. 20, 1960, and she survives.

Bill served in the Unites States Army for eight-and-a-half years. He was employed with Cummins Engine Co. for 25 years and retired in 1998 to live on his farm in Lancaster, Kentucky. Bill served as an Elder in the Christian Church for 37 years and was a strong witness for the Lord. He loved playing music with friends and his family, and was the rock of his family. He always looked forward to the annual trip to the Kiamichi Men’s Retreat in Oklahoma with his fellow Christian men.

He is survived by four children, Mark (Penny) Noe, Beth (Greg) Johnson, both of Columbus, Lynn (Steve) Campbell of Elizabethtown, Kentucky and Lea (Brian) Clark of Lexington, Kentucky; two sisters, Marybelle Smith of Lebanon, Kentucky and Elsie Rogers of Columbus; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two step-granddaughters; and 10 step-great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death are his parents; one son, William Spencer Noe; six brothers, Clarence, Larue, Isaac, Foster, Milton and Thomas Noe; and five sisters, Rebecca Nelson, Genetta Foster, Loraine Goldy, Silvia Ann Blair and Bobbie Noe.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 12th, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home, 3855 25th St. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 13th, at New Hope Christian Church, U.S 31 and County Road 400N, with Jonathan Titus officating. Interment for Bill will be at Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Nicholasville, Kentucky, on Wednesday, June 14, 2017.
