Local woman arrested after chase

Columbus police arrested a local woman after she fled from an officer who saw possible narcotics activity in the 700 block of California Street.

Columbus police officer Drake Maddix saw the activity at 9:10 p.m. Tuesday and attempted to stop one of the individuals, later identified as Jesse E. Wade, 25, of 16200 E. County Road 265N, who then took off running, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

Maddix later stopped Wade in the 700 block of Union Street and recovered a small amount of methamphetamine when arresting her, Harris said.

Six syringes and additional drug paraphernalia were located in her purse, Harris said.

Wade was arrested on preliminary charges of resisting law enforcement, six counts of possession of a legend drug-injection device, three counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, possession of methamphetamine and two Bartholomew County warrants, Harris said.

Wade is being held in the Bartholomew County Jail in lieu of $136,000 bond, jail officials said.
