Brian’s picks – June 22

1) Classic country music in a family atmosphere unfolds again with singer Becky Dover-Marsh at 7 p.m. July 1 at Little Hope Opry of Willow Leaves, 326 Jackson St. in Hope. I’ve caught online snippets of Dover-Marsh solidly belting rock tunes — Pat Benatar to Guns N’ Roses — with the band Paradise City. And husband-and-wife country duo Garry and Nancy Pugh, who began these concerts a year ago, can play anything. Cost: $10. Information, tickets and reservations: 812-546-0640.

2) Naomi Fleetwood Pyle knows humor, both personally and on the stage. And she promises that “The Dixie Swim Club,” about a college female swim team’s reunion, makes quite a splash with comedy. She directs the production for the second time in five years at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and June 30 and July 1, plus 2 p.m. June 25 and July 2 at the Harlequin Theatre inside FairOaks Mall, 2380 25th St. in Columbus. Tickets are $15 in advance at the mall office and elsewhere, and $20 at the door. Student tickets are $10. Information: 812-343-4597.
