Anna Mae (Fessel) Schroeder, 92 years of age, peacefully left this world on Monday, June 26, 2017, at Providence Diversicare. She was born September 27, 1924, in Harrison County, Indiana, to the late John E. and Cora M. (Brown) Fessel and was the widow of her husband of 66 years Robert W. Schroeder.

She was a graduate of Morgan Township High School and the old New Albany Business College. She formerly worked at the old First Federal Bank and Trust until she became a mother. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Ann was a skilled quilter and craft woman and was a longtime active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of New Albany and the Altar Society. She was well known and loved and fondly called the “Pie Lady” at the K of C fish fries and church events. Ann was most proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She formerly lived in Columbus with her daughter, Sondra Bolte, and was a former member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and siblings, Lillian, Opal, Clyde and Glenn Fessel, Verna Tamer and Bertha Geltmaker.

Survivors include children, Jim Schroeder (Diane), Sondra Bolte and Tony Schroeder (Annie); nine grandchildren, Jennifer, Corey and Zachary and Joseph Schroeder, Kelly Reed, Sasha Haywood, Hannah Bolte, Aubrey Rosenkranz and Gretchen Blake; and 20 delightful great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 29, at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring Street in New Albany, including a Rosary service at 3 p.m. Funeral Liturgy will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 30, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Albany with entombment to follow in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park Chapel of the Cross.
