Two people were arrested by Columbus police on multiple drug-related charges after their vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation.
Officer Drake Maddix was patrolling in the area of 19th Street and Cottage Avenue at 4 p.m. Friday when he saw a vehicle fail to use its turn signal, said Officer Alyson Rech, Columbus Police Department spokeswoman.
Maddix spoke with the driver, Michael F. McCrory, 31, Elizabethtown, and learned that McCrory’s driving status was suspended and that he was wanted on a Bartholomew County warrant, Rech said.
Maddix also learned that the passenger, Bernice A. Woodson, 35, North Vernon, was wanted on a Jennings County warrant, Rech said.
When officers searched the vehicle, they found methamphetamine in three small, clear bags, a glass pipe that contained methamphetamine, multiple syringes, marijuana, a digital scale, a burned spoon and numerous pills, Rech said.
McCrory was arrested on preliminary charges of:
- Two felony counts of possession of legend drug injection devices
- Felony possession of methamphetamine
- Felony possession of a legend drug or precursor
- Five counts of possession of paraphernalia
- Possession of marijuana
- Driving while suspended with a previous conviction
- Bartholomew County arrest warrant
Woodson was arrested on preliminary charges of:
- Two counts of felony possession of legend drug injection devices
- Felony possession of methamphetamine
- Felony possession of a legend drug or precursor
- Five counts of possession of paraphernalia
- Possession of marijuana
- Jennings County warrant
