‘Columbus’ movie tickets go on sale Monday

Tickets for the “Columbus” movie showings beginning Sept. 1 at YES Cinema will go on sale at noon Monday, according to Randy Allman of the nonprofit, downtown theater.

The film, shot mostly in downtown Columbus in a three-week period last summer, will premiere nationally Aug. 4 in New York and Los Angeles.

Allman said current, preliminary plans for the local premiere call for the film’s director, who goes by the name of Kogonada, to attend the first local showing.

He also said the movie would play simultaneously in both YES theaters for at least the first week, and in heavier-than-normal showings at one of the YES theaters for about a month.
