Free film series: Movies with a star role

The Columbus Young Professionals want to get you out to the movies — literally. The local group recently announced a free outdoor summer film series titled “Moonlight Movies” showing at dusk at various locations around Columbus. And it features plenty of nostalgia. “Independence Day” explodes on the scene July 22 at City Hall at Second and Washington streets. “Hook” flies onto the scene Aug. 12 at the Bartholomew County Public Library Plaza, 536 Fifth St. And “Jurassic Park” stomps into Mill Race Park, Fifth and Lindsey streets, Sept. 9. Doors open at 8 p.m. for each movie, and the movie will start around 9 or 9:30. The presentations are made possible by the Columbus Area Arts Council, Exhibit Columbus, the Heritage Fund, and Johnson Witkemper Insurance.
