June L. Mires, 99, of Columbus, died at 1:25 p.m. Friday, July 14, 2017, at Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation-Columbus.

Mrs. Mires was a lifelong member of East Columbus United Methodist Church and attended services there three times a week. She also taught Sunday school for many years. June loved to bowl. She continued to drive and enjoy bowling until she was 93 years old. Spending time with family was one of her favorite things to do.

The funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at East Columbus United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles Aigner officiating. Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street and from 9:30 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the church. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to East Columbus United Methodist Church or Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.

June was born Nov. 16, 1917, to the late Everett Sr. and Daisy Chambers Butler.

She married Curtis Mires in 1937.

Survivors include her son, Theron D. “Butch” Mires of Elizabethtown; daughters, Marilyn Kay Brown, Charlene L. (Larry) Burbrink, both of Columbus, and Janet Wiley of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Sheryl (Perry) Moore, Mark Sweeney, Laura (Larry) Guthrie, Clint (Sondie) Wiley, Rhonda (Tim) Blandford, Melinda (David) Foust, Theron L. (Jill) Mires, Nathan (Joanne) Burbrink and Teresa Burbrink; 19 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Imogene Butler of Columbus and Kathleen Helvie of Logansport; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Mires was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis; brothers, William, Theron and Everett Butler Jr.; daughter-in-law, Lois Mires; and son-in-law, Clarence Brown.
