Clarice Vickie Rutan

Clarice Vickie Rutan, 86, of Columbus, passed from this life at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 20, 2017, at Kindred Transitional Care & Rehabilitation of Columbus.

Mrs. Rutan was born December 23, 1930, in Bloomington, Indiana, the daughter of George and Gracie Shirley. She married Ralph E. Rutan June 16, 1951. He preceded her in death October 12, 1983.

Mrs. Rutan graduated from University High School in Bloomington and worked in customer service at Cosco Inc./Dorel Juvenile Group, retiring after 40 years of service.

She was involved with the Book Buddies program for many years and was a former tour guide for the architectural tour in Columbus.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Phi Beta Psi Sorority, and the Red Hat Society and was a former member of the Area Art Council.

She enjoyed acting in plays and was a sports enthusiast; she was an I.U. basketball fan.

Survivors include her sons, Robert Rutan of San Jose, California and Ted Rutan of Columbus; grandchildren, Jason Alicea of Jeffersonville and Allison Rutan of Bristol, Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Rutan was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ralph; a daughter, Barbara Rutan; and siblings, John, Elizabeth, Warren, Margaret, Richard, and Benjamin.

The funeral will be conducted at 12 p.m. Friday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with the Rev. Howard Boles officiating.

Family and friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
