Water back on after main accidentally cut by contractor

COLUMBUS, Indiana — Due to a water main cut by a contractor on Georgetown Road, 113 customers west of Columbus and north of State Road 46 in the area of Baker Hollow Road and Georgetown Road — including County Roads 850W, 700W and 600W — were without water for about three hours Wednesday afternoon, according to the Southwestern Bartholomew Water Corp.

Crews restored water service just after 3:30 p.m., a utility spokeswoman said. The outage had been reported at 12:32 p.m., she said.

All affected customers will be under a boil-water advisory until noon Saturday. Customers are advised to bring water to a full boil for five minutes before consumption or use in cooking and food preparation, the utility said.
