Woman faces intoxicated driving charge after colliding with motorcycle, injuring pair

COLUMBUS, Indiana — A Columbus woman was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated after colliding with a motorcycle, injuring two others.

Elizabeth Blair, 39, of 790 Shoreline Drive, Columbus, was traveling east on 25th Street just before 2 p.m. Tuesday and was attempting to turn north on Wedgewood Drive when her Toyota Tacoma pickup struck a motorcycle carrying an Anderson couple, said Lt. Matt Harris, spokesman for the Columbus Police Department.

Jeffrey Welker, 60, of Anderson, was driving a Harley Davidson motorcycle and was seriously injured during the crash, Harris said. Welker was transported by LifeLine medical helicopter to Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, where he was listed in stable condition Wednesday with fractures to an arm and leg, a hospital spokesperson said.

His passenger, Jennifer Welker, 56, also of Anderson, was transported to Columbus Regional Hospital for treatment, Harris said. She was later also transferred to Methodist Hospital, where her condition was not immediately available.
