Bull Dogs, Olympians take runner-up spots

Two Columbus North girls won medalist honors, and the North and Columbus East golfers both came away with second-place team finishes in their respective tournaments Saturday.

The fourth-ranked Bull Dogs varsity carded a 310 to finish one shot behind No. 2 Westfield in the Fall Preview at Prairie View Golf Club in Carmel, site of the state finals. No. 3 Zionsville finished third with a 313, and No. 1 Evansville North was fourth with a 321.

Columbus North’s Danbi Kim fired a 2-under 70 to win medalist honors. Nathaly Munnicha carded a 78, Alex Munnicha added an 80, Annie Anderson shot 82 and Julia Luken had an 86.

Meanwhile, at Greensburg Country Club, East finished with a 358, two shots behind No. 17 Mooresville in the Greensburg Inviational. The Olympians were 29 shots better than in Monday’s season opener at Bloomington Country Club.

Four of the five East golfers had career-best rounds. Lily Shelp led the way with an 83, while Morgan Harrison carded an 88, Autumn Fateley added a 90, Ellie Buntin shot 97 and Lauren Steinwedel had a 102.

Molly Donnell won medalist honors with a 79 to lead North’s JV team to a sixth-place finish with a 391. Yestika Nischol carded a 92, Nicole Duncan added a 98, Anna Hatton shot 122 and Paige Sherlock had a 133.

Jennings County finished 10th with a 441. Sydney Campbell led the Panthers with a 103, followed by Peyton Whitehead at 105, Allie Clark 108, Rachel Greene 125 and Destiny Joray 146.

South Decatur finished 14th with a 483. Shelby Vannatta led the Cougars with an 89, while Annie Gant added a 110, Emmy Grissom shot 137 and Kylie Owens had a 147.

Lancers take 16th

FRANKLIN — Edinburgh carded a 477 to finish 16th in the Whiteland Invitational at The Legends. Franklin edged Center Grove 345-348 for the title.

Vanessa McManaway led the Lancers with a 104. Maddie Giles added a 115, Kenzie Hill shot 124, Kierra Richards had a 134 and Savannah Kellams finished with a 138.
