Fire damages Hope home

HOPE – A home at 442 Market St. in Hope was heavily damaged in a fire reported by a passerby.

Hope firefighters were assisted by several area volunteer fire departments when the fire was reported just before noon Tuesday about five blocks east of the Hope Town Square.

Hope Town Marshal Matt Tallent said heavy smoke was visible outside the one-story structure when firefighters arrived.

The female homeowner who lived at the home with two small children was outside when the fire was spotted by a passerby who alerted her to the smoke. No injuries were reported.
