DSI client gets to wrestle with his heros

Staff Report

An adult with disabilities served by Developmental Services Inc. realized his dream of professional wrestling when he stepped into the ring with two of his heroes in a tag-team match.

Justin Wells teamed with Donny Idol and Ricky Ruckus to face the Hellfire Club on Aug. 5 at Downtown Throwdown 3, a free, outdoor event promoted by Columbus-based Emerge Wrestling. Wells was invited to participate in the event after the professional wrestling organization realized his passion for wrestling.

“Justin regularly goes to watch his wrestling heroes, and through a connection with one of our employees Donny Idol and Ricky Ruckus started coming to DSI to work with Justin and show him wrestling moves,” said Tom Harpring, DSI communications officer.

“Justin has written stories about his love for professional wrestling as well as appreciation for its rich history. He’s also a fine illustrator and has made wonderful pictures of wrestlers. I think that and the fact Justin practices and trains everyday inspired the folks at Emerge to invite him to compete in Downtown Throwdown. It’s literally a dream come true for him,” Harpring said.

DSI is nonprofit agency established in 1975 and serves children and adults with disabilities in 44 counties in Indiana, including Bartholomew.
